Light Australia Green (LAGi)
Who We Are
A Patient-Led Research and Advocacy Initiative
The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation Australia is transforming how we respond to cholangiocarcinoma. Being patient-led, we have a deep understanding of the challenge. We do not just advocate—we build solutions.
- We provide structured response and support strategies for patients and their families.
- We align the medical community to ensure a unified, effective approach.
- We initiate and fund research that drives survival—today, not in ten years.
- We initiate, fund, and drive research into early detection methodologies.
- We advance the understanding and education of bile health as a critical factor in prevention and treatment.
- We build effective, well-informed communities around these strategies.
By combining patient experience, scientific innovation, and medical collaboration, we are reshaping the future of cholangiocarcinoma detection, treatment, and survival.
What is Light Australia Green (LAGi)?
LAGi is an ongoing, year-round initiative that includes a series of events, culminating in World Cholangiocarcinoma Day, held on the third Thursday of February each year.
Light Australia Green is a nationwide movement uniting people around a common goal: a comprehensive annual campaign of green-themed events, symposiums, and innovative initiatives dedicated to raising awareness and driving engagement in:
- Bile health
- Bile duct cancer response strategies and processes
What Makes LAGi Different?
LAGi is not just about science, and not just about lived experience—it unites both.
It brings together patients, caregivers, families, medical and allied professionals, healthcare providers, researchers, and the science community into a single, coordinated effort.
This initiative creates a pathway where real-world experience meets professional expertise, ensuring the best knowledge, strategies, and resources directly contribute to better patient outcomes.
Mobilising Real Solutions
LAGi is not just about awareness—it is about actions that generate measurable outcomes. As a patient-led initiative, we do not have the luxury of time or kicking the can down the road.
This initiative activates and centralises collaboration, ensuring that the latest science and best practices are not just theoretical but actively applied to benefit patients today. The focus is clear—improving survival rates through strategic action.
